Jesse Miller’s talk was very enlightening. I think it really made everyone stop and consider what might be on their social media. This really shows how privacy does not exist very much on the internet and social media unless you are very careful. Even if you are careful online, things can still get out there. Social media can be a very useful tool to get information out there, but it can also be very harmful if done poorly. It is very important for everyone to be aware of their own privacy settings and what they are putting out there.

In our last class we also had the pleasure of having Jeff Hopkins come in and talk with us. He gave some great insights on inquiry based learning and how we as future educators can start to implement it. A big takeaway that I got from that lecture was that we need to use the curriculum to our advantage, not be restricted by it. If we can use some sort of inquiry that will foster learning in the classroom, we should absolutely try to pursue that opportunity. As long as we can explain how and why we are using this method and can relate it back to the curriculum in some way, most school districts and administration will be on board with the method. Any way to encourage critical thinking and cross curricular competencies is something that should be implemented in daily learning.
